A “designer curated custom home” is a highly designed, custom home that is built using our proven custom home building process with our design team acting as the client. Basically, we build a custom home with all the consideration, care, and quality we would for a full custom home … we just don’t know who the buyer is yet. The home is then given a price and completion date about three quarters of the way through construction and the Sarah Lee Living Team begins to market the home to find our homeowner.

We moved to the Designer Curated Custom Home building model with our clients’ needs and expectations in mind. It has always been our goal to build a high-quality home that wows each client. Unfortunately, we got to the point in our current environment that this was impossible to do, and it was frustrating for everyone. With material and labor shortages and pricing that literally changes from one day to the next, we found ourselves in a place where both building timelines and pricing were not predictable. We could not reliably commit to a contract price or a build timeline that was anywhere near accurate. Unwilling to compromise our building quality through whatever means necessary, we moved to our Designer Curated Custom Home model, and it is working beautifully.

Each RESI Designer Curated Custom Home is built with critical importance being placed on PLANNING, PROCESS and TEAM to ensure successful outcomes.
PLANNING is just that … selecting a home plan, siting the plan to the homesite, tweaking the plan design, thoughtfully making interior and exterior finish selections, setting the budget, obtaining bank financing, etc. We still do all of this before any dirt is moved, permits are pulled and the work you can see on a jobsite is started. Planning lays the foundation for success. When material shortages happen and substitutions need to be made, our designer steps in and working seamlessly with our suppliers and trades, adjusts the plan and we keep on moving forward as quickly as possible with the same attention to detail.
PROCESS is all the steps involved in carrying out the building plan. It is the specific steps that are taken, in a specific order, that help to ensure the desired outcomes. In the environment that we are in we have some flexibility in the order of building events however, it is our strong desire to build our homes according to a schedule that ensures quality construction and minimizes re-work. Because of this, the process of building a home cannot be guaranteed within a specified period of time. We do our best to work with our stable of trusted suppliers and trade partners to move as efficiently as possible but will not compromise quality for speed.
TEAM is the group of individuals that come together to execute on the building plan and carry out the many steps that make up the process of building a RESI home. The talent, experience, work ethic and integrity of our suppliers and trade contractors, may of which we have been working with for decades, is critical to the success of each home build. This team of handpicked professionals builds with dependable quality and care. Occasionally, our loyalty to these trades will cause building delays because we are not willing to move away from our trusted team of building professionals and compromise quality to hit a timeline.
